So we've uprooted our life in Lawrence. It's time to kiss this wonderful community goodbye for a little while.
About a year ago my life path finally came into focus for me: Waldorf teacher. A heart-centered, life-long learning process that helps make a positive, healing change in the world. How to become a Waldorf teacher? With no easily accessible training programs... naturally I went to UMKC for a semester to major in art education for a second BA. Why UMKC instead of KU? Post-BA program. Less time.
Through some interesting synchronicites, it came to my attention that a teacher training manifested in my own hometown at Prairie Moon Waldorf School. Three weeks in June + nine hours a day + the phenomenal Dr. Robin Bacchus + an amazing group of people = foundational studies and abundant life changes.
~**more about waldorf education**~
One night I was cruising job postings on waldorftoday.com and right there was a calling for the most perfect opportunity Patrick and I didn't even know we wanted. We've been putting intention into some change for a while... and this was clearly it.
So we're moving our little family to Cabo Matapalo, Costa Rica. We're leaving Kansas August 6th. We'll be there 3 months initially to check it out, back to Kansas for 6 months, then back to CR if we're feeling the rainforest lifestyle. There is another teacher that will be there for the 6 months we'll be home (hence the break).
~**see where we'll be living!**~
I'll be teaching some great kids, one third grader and one kindergartener, in exchange for our living expenses. I'll also be teaching some other children in the community in the afternoons- a reading class and some english.
Am I up to the challenge? Absolutely. The process of leaving our sacred home, where Amara was born and where we got married, has been anything but easy. I've never been through a change this big. But it's a healthy challenge and I desperately need it.
Wish us luck!
